Well, going into this expansion, Open for Business for The Sims 2, I had very high hopes. The game itself was great, and its expansions, University and Nightlife, were absolutely amazing. I thought that this would be another great expansion, but the problems it had were predictable. First of all, who really wants to come home from school or work, then sit down and play a game where you have to go to work? Not a very fun concept on paper and it does not make for the most enjoyable expansion ever made.
You can purchase a lot, or have a business from home, but you get a lot more space if you buy a lot made for your business. You can hire different Sims to work for you, and you and your employees get experience and become better workers the longer you play. You can sell nearly anything in the game, and price it as you want. If your employees are slackers, fire them and make robot workers to take their place. For slower computers, having employees and customers, and whatever else on your lot will cause your game to run slower then molasses, which is, again, not fun. Even with all the graphics turned down, you will have a problem. The game claims it comes with over 125 new objects. Unfortunately, almost all of them are things like new wallpaper and floorings, which are not needed.
It is a shame that they did not make this one as good as they could have, because it really did have potential. The few good objects that it did come with are great, and being an entrepreneur can be fun, but it is very hard to have a business make any profit. The new expansion did iron out some bugs from earlier installments, but brings new ones threefold. The graphics as always are amazing, and it comes with some new socials that made me laugh myself silly. Overall though, it’s only a good purchase for the die hard Sims fans, and even then you may be disappointed.
Graphics: 9.5/10 Game play: 4/10 Difficulty: Crazy hard Pros: Great Graphics, good new socials, interesting idea Cons: Not really very fun, insanely hard, very tedious Overall: 6.5/10
